Subclass 114 and 838 Visa: Aged Dependent Relative Visa

The Subclass 114 and Subclass 838 visas are Permanent Visas (PR) that allow a single, elderly person who relies on an Australian relative for financial support to live permanently in Australia.


Eligibility Criteria

Subclass 114 Visa

  • Must have a sponsor who is an eligible relative or the relative’s partner.
  • The sponsor must be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or an eligible New Zealand Citizen (other sponsorship options may be available).
  • Be old enough to qualify for the Australian pension age.
  • Have no partner (single status required).
  • Must have been financially dependent (food, clothing, shelter, and money) on your relative in Australia for at least 3 years before applying.
  • At the time of application and decision, applicants must be outside Australia.

Subclass 838 Visa

  • Must have a sponsor who is an eligible relative or the relative’s partner.
  • The sponsor must be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or an eligible New Zealand Citizen (other sponsorship options may be available).
  • Be old enough to qualify for the Australian pension age.
  • Have no partner (single status required).
  • Must have been financially dependent (food, clothing, shelter, and money) on your relative in Australia for at least 3 years before applying.
  • At the time of application and decision, applicants must be in Australia.
