REGIONAL EMPLOYER SPONSORED (494)
The renowned subclass 187 RSMS visa was superseded by the subclass 494 visa.
It is a five-year visa with a 45-year age limit.
Except for Sydney Metropolitan, Melbourne Metropolitan, and Brisbane Metropolitan, the employer must be based anywhere in Australia.
Perth and the Gold Coast are now classified as regional areas.
To become a Permanent Resident, you must work in a regional area for three years and earn $53,900 per year, after which you can apply for the 191 visa (which will become available in 2022).
The 494 visa is divided into three phases.
In addition, the post must be approved by the Regional Certifying Body.
Each Australian regional area has its own government-appointed authority with extensive understanding of the area.
Because regional areas are tiny and close-knit, this authority must decide whether the stance is real or not and issue a positive or negative response.
